It is not too late to enroll in the spring classes being sponsored by the English Language Institute, the official program of English-as-a-second-language instruction at Yale. The courses, which began on Jan. 19, continue for 11 weeks. These courses are designed for graduate and professional students, and for students whose academic or professional goals require an advanced level of English language proficiency. Emphasis is on improving oral presentation skills and American English pronunciation, and strengthening expository writing skills and strategies for academic argument. Tuition for these courses is $275, except for the tutorials in writing.
