Search committee named for School of Architecture dean

President Richard C. Levin has appointed a committee to assist him in finding a successor to outgoing Dean Fred Koetter of the School of Architecture.

"We have all benefited immensely from Dean Koetter's leadership, and I look forward to working closely with him during the final year of his term," says President Levin. While it is a long- standing University tradition for the search committee to be composed of faculty members, President Levin reminds the entire community that "it can be confident that the committee will consult widely with students, alumni and staff."

Thomas Beeby, professor of architectural design, has agreed to serve as chair. The other members of the committee are: Peter Brooks, the Tripp Professor of the Humanities; Sheila de Bretteville, professor and director of graduate studies in graphic design; Martin Gehner, professor of architectural engineering; Steven Harris, associate professor (adjunct) of architecture design; Dolores Hayden, professor of architecture and urbanism and of American studies; Diana E.E. Kleiner, deputy provost for the arts and the Dunham Professor of Classics and History of Art; and Alan Plattus, associate dean of the School of Architecture and associate professor of architectural design and theory.

Individuals are encouraged to contact the committee members with their comments about the characteristics the new dean should have or with their nominations of specific candidates.
