Memorial concert for Druckman to be aired

"New Music New Haven," a monthly radio program of 20th-century music recorded at Yale, will present selections from a memorial concert in honor of Pulitzer Prize-wining composer Jacob Druckman on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 10 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 12, at noon.

The special program, which can be heard on WPKN (89.5 on the FM dial), will feature five of the late composer's works.

Druckman was a member of the School of Music faculty from 1976 until his death in May of 1996. He was music director of the New Music New Haven concert series and, along with Martin Bresnick, had cohosted the radio program which is based on that series.

Druckman was one of the most honored and prominent contemporary composers. He received commissions from numerous major orchestras and was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 1972 for "Windows," his first work for large orchestra.

"New Music New Haven" is on the air the second Tuesday of each month at 10 p.m. and the second Thursday at noon.
