Student playwright's drama weaves tale of shattered illusions

A door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesman shatters the illusions of a young man named Mac by announcing that he is Mac's real father in "According to What," the next work featured in the series "Yale Playwrights at the Rep: Plays by the Graduating Class."

"According to What" is the fourth of five readings of plays by students at the School of Drama planned throughout the year. Written by third-year student C. Wade McIntyre, the play parodies the American dream as Mac, who thought he had a picture-perfect family, begins a desperate, comic quest to keep his family from unraveling and preventing his world from being sucked into the family television set.

The play will be read for one night only, on Monday, April 13, at 7 p.m. in the Experimental Theatre, located downstairs in the University Theatre at 222 York St. The reading is free and open to the public; however, reservations are encouraged due to space limitations.

For reservations or further information, call 432-1570.
