Benefits open enrollment

Monday, Oct 20 through Friday, Nov. 14, is the time for all staff members to review their health, dental, prescription and flexible spending account coverage and make additions, deletions or changes to their insurance.

This year there are several new health insurance plans from which employees may choose. They are: The new BlueCare HMO; BlueCare Point of Service and Century Preferred plans from Blue Cross, Blue Shield. Employees will continue to have the option of choosing the Yale Health Plan, the University's HMO.

As of Jan. 1, 1998, members of BlueCare plans will automatically be enrolled
in the Option 1, Co-payment Prescription Drug Plan, which allows members to pay $8 for mail-order prescriptions, $10 for generic drugs and $15 for brand-name drugs when purchased at participating pharmacies, with no application required. BlueCare members who wish to elect Option 2, which requires members to meet a calendar year deductible of $200 per individual up to a family maximum of $600 after which the plan covers 100 percent of your covered prescription drug charges purchased at a participating pharmacy, must complete an enrollment application, available in the
Benefits Office, for this prescription plan and return to the Benefits Office prior to Nov. 14. Detailed information about this benefit will be mailed to employees in mid-October.

Paperwork on benefit changes must be completed and returned to the Benefits Office by Nov. 14. Changes will be effective Jan. 1, 1998.

For further information on Yale's health or dental insurance plans, or for enrollment applications, visit the Benefits Office at 155 Whitney Ave., or call 432-5550.
