Fundraiser to benefit museums' community outreach programs

A fundraiser titled "From Baule to Blarney" will be presented by the Members of the Yale Art Museums 6-9:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17.

The special event celebrates two very different campus exhibitions: "Baule: African Art/Western Eyes" at the Yale University Art Gallery and "Irish Paintings from the Collection of Brian P. Burns" at the Yale Center for British Art.

The evening will include tours led by the directors of the two museums -- Patrick McCaughey at the British Art Center and Susan Vogel at the Yale Art Gallery -- and the curators of the two exhibitions. In addition, there will be African music by the group Mikata and Celtic music and dance featuring Ellen Cohn and friends, as well as a silent auction, champagne and other drinks, and hors d'oeuvres.

Proceeds will benefit the community outreach programs of both museums. Tickets are $50 per person; $60 at the door. For more information, contact the Yale Art Museums' membership office by phone at 432-9658, by fax at 432-4528 or by email at jessica.rostow@yale.edu.
