There will be a memorial service on Sunday, Nov. 2, for Joseph Hamburger, the Pelatiah Perit Professor Emeritus of Political and Social Science, who died on
Aug. 14 at age 75.
The service will take place at 11 a.m. in the Joseph P. Slifka Center for Jewish Life at Yale, 80 Wall St. All are welcome to attend. A reception will follow at Branford College, 74 High St.
A leading authority on 19th-century British intellectual history and political theory, Professor Hamburger joined the Yale faculty in 1957. Following his retirement in 1992, he held the position of senior research scientist and taught frequently in the directed studies program.
