Yale Cabaret

Now in its 29th year, the Yale Cabaret performs 20 shows a year from September through May in an intimate, club-like setting, operated entirely by School of Drama students. The Cabaret kitchen offers a full selection of gourmet soups, salads, sandwiches, pastas and weekly specials, beer, wine and a variety of other beverages. Located at 217 Park Street, the Cabaret performs two shows nightly, Thursday - Saturday. Doors open at 7 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. Memberships are available for the 1998-99 season at substantial savings over single ticket prices. For membership, reservations and information, call 432-1566.

Yale Dramatic Association

The Yale Dramatic Association, an undergraduate extracurricular group, produces about eight shows per year. The Dramat operates in the University Theatre,
222 York St., presenting two professionally directed productions on its mainstage, five student-directed productions and a Commencement show. The Dramat provides opportunities for actors, directors, designers, technicians, administrators and playwrights to work in a fully equipped theater facility. For more information, call 432-1212.

Yale Children's Theater Company

The Yale Children's Theater Company offers on-campus shows for children and adults alike, and performs shows and runs workshops at local schools and community centers. The public is invited to all on-campus performances, which take place at
248 Park St. There is a minimal admission fee for some shows; others are offered free of charge. For further information, call 432-1210.

School of Drama

Each season, the Yale School of Drama showcases the talents of its students in four productions staged by members of the graduating directing class. The 1998-99 season under consideration includes "Great Men of Science, Nos. 21 & 22" by Glen Berger, directed by Wier Harman (Oct. 19-24); "Twelfth Night" by William Shakespeare, directed by Alec Wild (Dec. 3-5 and 7-9); "The Winter's Tale" by Shakespeare, directed by Eyal Goldberg (March 8-13); and "The Visit" by Friedrich Duerrenmatt, directed by K. Elizabeth Stevens (April 26-May 1.)

With the exception of "Twelfth Night," the shows will be presented at the University Theatre, located at 222 York St. "Twelfth Night" will be presented at the Yale Repertory Theatre, located at the corner of Chapel and York streets. Performances are held Monday at 7 p.m. and Tuesday-Saturday at 8 p.m. Ticket prices range from $10 to $15. Yale Repertory Theatre

The Yale Repertory Theatre is the professional affiliate of the School of Drama under the leadership of artistic director Stan Wojewodski Jr., dean of the School of Drama, and managing director Victoria Nolan. The 1998-99 season features six plays running from mid-September through late May.

The season includes Mabou Mines' "Peter and Wendy," adapted for the stage from J.M. Barrie's novel by Liza Lorwin and directed by Lee Breuer (Sept. 17-Oct. 3); "Galileo" by Bertolt Brecht, translated by Charles Laughton and directed by Evan Yionoulis (Oct. 22-Nov. 14); "Crumbs from the Table of Joy," by Lynn Nottage, directed by Seret Scott (Nov. 27-Dec. 19); and "Measure for Measure" by William Shakespeare, directed by Mark Rucker (Jan.28-Feb. 20), which is being offered as a special project of the School of Drama and will feature the graduating acting class. The season continues with Tennessee Williams' "The Glass Menagerie," directed by Joseph Chaikin (March 18-April 10); and Noel Coward's "Hay Fever," which will be directed by Stan Wojewodksi Jr. (April 29-May 22).

The Yale Rep offers a variety of memberships this season, including 10-play subscriptions for all six offerings plus the four School of Drama productions (see the above entry); six-play Yale Rep subscriptions; four- and six-play flex passes; and Student Passbooks offering all six plays of the Rep's season for $54. University faculty and staff may purchase $25 memberships (up to four memberships allowed per person) which entitle the holders to a $10 ticket to each production in the calendar year plus additional events and exclusive discounts at area restaurants and retailers.
