On-campus interviewing

Graduate Career Services is offering a unique opportunity for Ph.D. candidates to participate in on-campus interviewing.

Well-known organizations, including the Rand Corporation, McKinsey & Company, and The Beacon Group, are coming to Yale to recruit doctoral candidates. A complete listing of organizations, with resume deadlines, is on the Graduate School website at www.yale.edu/gcs. This listing can also be found in the McDougal Graduate Student Center, which serves as the headquarters for Graduate Career Services. The center is located in the Hall of Graduate Studies (HGS), 320 York St. For information about the interviews, call 432-8896.

McDougal Center activities

The McDougal Center provides space and programs for building intellectual, cultural, and social life, and for facilitating professional development activities across the departments of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. The center also welcomes the participation of students from other Yale graduate and professional schools, postdoctoral fellows, faculty, staff, alumni of the graduate school, and members of the larger Yale community.

The center sponsors events like happy hours, free movie nights on Friday and Sunday, cultural festivals, bagel brunches, outings, and family activities, as well as extensive programs for Teaching Fellow Preparation and Development and Graduate Career Services. Graduate student groups and departments may request to reserve a room for their events in the center.

The center website (http://www.yale.edu/mcdougal) provides events calendars and information relating to graduate student life. To receive regular notice of Center events, sign up on the web site at www.yale.edu/mcdougal/lists.htm or email mcdougal.center@yale.edu.

During the fall, the center is open 9 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. After hours access is through the HGS gate, by using your ID Card, or by calling the attendant from the blue phone.

Blue Dog Café open

The Blue Dog Café in the McDougal Center is open again to the Yale community for breakfast, coffee breaks, lunch and snacks. The student-run café serves gourmet coffee and tea, fresh H&H Bagels from New York, pastries and muffins, yogurt, a variety of cold beverages, sandwiches and chips. It is open 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. Cash and University charge are accepted for payment.

The Blue Dog Café is located in the common room, which features café and lounge seating, live Internet and dial-up ports for laptops, as well as magazines and newspapers for light reading. Brown-baggers can use the microwave oven. Informal study groups, language tables, and student-teacher meetings are welcome.
