Yale's International Summer

One Season in the Life of a Global University

President Richard C. Levin has said that one major goal
during Yale's fourth century is transforming the University
into a "truly global institution."

If the activities of Yale's schools and departments
this past summer are any indication, that goal is well
on its way to becoming a reality.

Faculty, staff and students pursued research on issues
of international import, expanded their understanding of
foreign languages and cultures, and attended global
gatherings on major academic, political and social issues.

This special section takes a look at some -- although by
no means all -- of those international activities. While
some programs and projects may not be listed, it is hoped
that the following offer insights into the range and scope of
Yale's international programs during just one summer at
what is quickly becoming a truly global university.
