Andrea Kanner '04 and Vinh-Tung Nguyen '05 were paired with Chinese undergraduates and divided their time between New Haven and Hong Kong, doing a cross-cultural comparison of non-profit work in the fields of youth services and HIV/AIDS care. In New Haven they interned at LEAP for Kids and Leeway Inc., respectively, and then spent the second half of their summer at similar organizations in Hong Kong.

Student internships. Ten Yale students went to work in China this summer as interns in the Yale-China Association's Service Internship Program. The students had the opportunity to experience life in contemporary China while gaining valuable professional experience working at tasks ranging from training English teachers in the country's rural interior to working aboard a wooden sailing junk in Hong Kong harbor that is home to a floating camp for disabled and disadvantaged children.
