The English Language Institute, the ofÞcial program of English language instruction at Yale, offers the following courses for the spring term of 1999. The courses begin January 25 and continue for the next eleven weeks with the Þnal classes meeting the week that ends April 23.
These courses, designed for graduate and professional students and for students whose academic or professional goals require an advanced level of English language proÞciency, have the speciÞc academic purpose of improving oral presentation skills and American English pronunciation, and of strengthening expository writing skills and strategies for academic argument.
