Gala benefit at Peabody

A gala benefit titled "A Night on the Yangtze" will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12 at the Peabody Museum of Natural History, 170 Whitney Ave. The event will celebrate the opening of the new exhibit "China's Feathered Dinosaurs" which will be on view Feb. 13-May 9. A story on the exhibit, which features fossil specimens of rare "feathered" dinosaurs discovered in China in 1996, will appear in an upcoming issue of the Bulletin and Calendar.

In addition to food and beverages, entertainment at the gala will be provided by Tuxedo Junction and Burning Bush Baroque. Guests are invited to dress in Chinese finery, dinosaur hunting attire or come as themselves. For information about purchasing tickets and registration materials, call 432-9855.

CPR course at YUHS

Yale University Health Services (YUHS), 17 Hillhouse Ave., is offering a two-day CPR certification program for members of the Yale community. The course, Basic Life Support (Adult, Child & Pediatric CPR & Choking Victim), will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 23 & 24, 1:30-4:30 p.m. and 2-5 p.m, respectively. It will also be offered on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 23 & 24, at the same times. The location will be Rm. 405 at the health center.

There is a fee of $35 per person which includes CPR card and course materials. Certification is valid for two years. Advance registration is required. Workshops on ancient healing

The School of Nursing will offer a two-session class on the ancient healing art of Reiki on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26 and 27, in its facility at 100 Church St. South.

Reiki uses touch to facilitate relaxation, reduce stress, manage pain and promote healing. The class, which is intended for physicians, nurses, and other health professionals, will include a discussion of the history, philosophy and clinical applications of Reiki, and provide opportunities for hands-on experience. Upon completion, participants will be fully trained and certified in the Usui System of Reiki Healing.

Tuition for the class is $100; $75 for graduate students. The deadline for registration is Feb. 19. For more information, call Debbie Sestito at 737-2230.

Nursing accreditation review

The School of Nursing's accreditation review by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) is scheduled for April. Interested parties can provide written and signed comments to the evaluation team by March 12. Research fellowships

As a result of a grant from the Smith Richardson Foundation (SRF), International Security Studies at Yale is offering support for graduate students engaged in archival research in the fields of international, diplomatic, political and military/strategic studies. The awards are linked to the SRF's project "Studies on the Historical Roots of Contemporary International and Regional Issues."

Support will be offered both to students undertaking initial archival exploration and those who are at a more advanced stage of research. Successful applicants will be expected to devote part of the time of the grant period to a smaller study that offers perspectives on issues affecting the region being researched. YUWO Scholarships

The Yale University Women's Organization (YUWO) is offering scholarship awards to women whose formal education has been interrupted or delayed and who wish to resume their studies, or enhance or change their careers. Members of the Yale community and their family members are eligible for the awards. Present staff members and wives of staff members will be given Þrst consideration. Applicants are judged upon merit and need.
