Sought: Reminiscences about Yale figures

Penelope Laurans, associate dean of Yale College and assistant to the president, is seeking reminiscences about Yale faculty and other important University figures by students, faculty and alumni as part of a project celebrating Yale's tercentennial in 2001.

The first component of the project will be a collection of reminiscences for a tercentennial archive. The second component will be a book of remembrances of faculty who are no longer alive, which will be written in most cases by former colleagues, but may also be penned by former students and others. The book will be a collage, with archival photographs and prose pieces of varying length.

Many of those prose pieces are already in progress. They include, among others: Chauncey Brewster Tinker remembered by Maynard Mack, George Pierson remembered by C. Vann Woodward and Frank Brown remembered by Vincent Scully.
