Bruce Ackerman, Sterling Professor of Law and Political Science, and Anne Alstott, professor of law, will sign copies of their new book, "The Stakeholder Society," on Tuesday, April 20, 4-5:30 p.m. at Book Haven, 290 York St. In their book, the Yale law professors argue that every U.S. citizen has the right to share in the wealth accumulated by preceding generations. Refreshments will be served at the event, which is free and open to the public. Also featured in a book signing at Book Haven will be Giuseppe Mazzotta, the Dilley Professor of Italian Language and Literature and author of "The New Map of the World: The Poetic Philosophy of Giambattista Vico." The book attempts to show how reading Vico can bring an understanding of contemporary social problems. Mazzotta will sign copies of the book at Book Haven on Thursday, April 22, 4-5:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The public is welcome to attend, free of charge. Mark Bailey, artistic director of the Yale Russian Chorus, will conduct the New Haven Oratorio Choir, as well as soloists and an orchestra, in an "All Schubert Program" on Sunday, April 25, at 4 p.m. at the Church of the Redeemer, 185 Cold Spring St. in New Haven. Schubert's "Mass in G" is among the works being performed. Admission is $8, $5 for senior citizens. For further information, call 776-0318.
Ellen Matloff, an associate research scientist in genetics and director of the Cancer Genetic Counseling Shared Resource at the Yale Cancer Center, will discuss "Genetic Testing for Cancer in Jews: A Blessing or a Curse?" on Tuesday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center of Greater New Haven, 360 Amity Rd., Woodbridge.
