Campus will be the site of the annual
meeting of the American Law and
Economics Association

The relationship between law and economics will be explored during the annual meeting of the American Law and Economics Association (ALEA), which will be held at Yale Friday-Saturday, May 7-8, at the Law School.

The ALEA, founded in 1991, is dedicated to the advancement of economic understanding of law and related areas of public policy and regulation. Its membership includes academic and practicing lawyers and economists.

Law School Dean Anthony Kronman will welcome the association members at
8:45 a.m. on Friday. This will be followed by 28 panel discussions over the course of two days, with the presentation of more than 50 papers.

Among the topics that will be addressed at the meeting are commercial law, models of crime and punishment in criminal law, the evolving role of antitrust, institutions and private ordering, contracts, and empirical research in law and economics. In addition, the event will also explore the organization of legal processes, international and comparative law, labor and employment-discrimination law, bankruptcy law, the impact of common law rules, family law, experimental law and economics, and corporations, securities law and banking.
