Harkness Tower's carillon rang out triumphant melodies as graduates, faculty and staff, honorary degree recipients and guests gathered on Old Campus on May 22, to celebrate Yale University's 299th Commencement.
Thirty-three juniors will travel this summer to such faraway places as Australia, Russia, Kenya, Guatemala, and the Spanish island of Menorca to conduct their own research as recipients of Yale College fellowships.
To ensure a successful maiden voyage this summer for the freedom schooner Amistad, the University and its Divinity School recently donated $25,000 toward operation of the newly built replica of the original ship.
Stages, squares, courtyards and streets throughout Yale and New Haven this summer will fill with the voices of international artists and performers intent on enchanting and entertaining thousands of visitors to this year's International Festival of Arts & Ideas, June 16-July 1.
