YUHS names new medical director
Dr. Ravi Durvasula, an internist and specialist in infectious diseases, has been appointed the new medical director of Yale University Health Services (YUHS).
Durvasula came to YUHS as chief of clinical resources in 1999. Prior to joining the YUHS medical staff, he was a member of the faculty in the Section of Infectious Diseases at Yale's School of Medicine, where he completed his subspecialty training.
"He is well known at the health plan and School of Medicine as an outstanding physician and teacher," wrote YUHS director Dr. Paul Genecin in his letter announcing Durvasula's appointment. "In his time as YUHS chief of clinical resources, Dr. Durvasula has also proven himself to be a capable leader and true innovator."
After graduating from McGill University in Montreal, where he received both undergraduate and medical degrees, Durvasula served as a resident and chief resident in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
As medical director, Durvasula will be primarily responsible for overseeing the YUHS clinics. He will supervise programs to improve the quality of clinical care and service to all YUHS members.
Durvasula succeeds Dr. Moreson Kaplan, who will continue his administrative work at YUHS as associate director for medical affairs.
