It was an auspicious beginning for the Yale softball team. During its spring trip to Orlando, the team won its first six games -- the best start in the school's history -- and senior Kristen Maturo broke the Yale record for career doubles. She now has 31 doubles. The previous record of 27 was set by Mandy Taft who played 1994-97.

Senior R.D. DeSantis (Dunedin, FL) leads Yale in several offensive categories, including average (.520) and RBI (7). He is tied for the team lead in hits (13) and doubles (4).
Men's Basketball (10-14, 7-4 Ivy)

Senior Neil Yanke (Akron, OH) was named second team All-Ivy. Yanke led the Bulldogs in rebounding (6.7 ppg.), field goal percentage (.498) and blocked shots (21) and was second in scoring (12.5 ppg.). Sophomore Chris Leanza (Parma, OH) was an honorable mention selection. He led the team in scoring (13.3 ppg.), three-pointers (70), assists (95) and minutes (36.4 per game).
As a team, Yale set a school record for three-pointers in a season with 172.
Women's Basketball (9-18, 4-10 Ivy)

Sophomore Maria Smear (Annapolis, MD) was a second team All-Ivy selection. She led Yale in scoring (11.4 ppg.) and three-pointers with a school record 62. Senior Alyson Miller (Skokie, IL) was named honorable mention after leading the Bulldogs in rebounding (5.2 rpg.).
As a team, Yale set a school record for three-pointers in a season with 135.

Three Yale fencers have been selected to the NCAA Championships on March 22-24 at the University of Wisconsin, Parkside. Junior Cameron Hill (Los Angeles, CA) and sophomore Daniel Senft (Bonn, Germany) will both participate in the epee, and junior Luke Ferriera (Cambridge, MA) will compete in the sabre.

Freshman Sada Jacobson (Atlanta, GA) heads the list of Yale participants in the NCAA Championships on March 22-24 at the University of Wisconsin, Parkside. Jacobson, who fences in the sabre, went 24-0 during the regular season, including 6-0 in Ivy League competition. Three other fencers also will compete: sophomore Sophie Jones (Atherton, CA) in the sabre and freshmen Jennifer Joseph (Cerritos, CA) and Zane Selkirk (New York, NY) in the foil.

Senior Jeff Hamilton (Englewood, OH) was named the Ivy League Player of the Year for the third time. Hamilton finished the regular season second in the nation in goals per game. He also is a finalist for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, presented to the nation's top player, and was a first team All-ECAC selection. Freshman Jeff Dwyer (New Canaan, CT) was named the Ivy League co-Rookie of the Year.

Freshman Miles Whitman (Baltimore, MD) scored six goals in the victory over Pennsylvania. For her efforts she was selected as the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week.
Sophomore Amanda Sisley (Greenwich, CT) was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week. She made 36 saves in two games.

Senior Kristen Maturo (Orange, CT) became Yale's career leader in doubles during the spring trip to Orlando, FL. She now has 31 doubles, surpassing the mark of 27 Mandy Taft set 1994-97.
Yale won its first six games, the best start in school history. The current 7-3 record ties the 1987, 1991, 1993 and 1997 teams for the top mark after 10 games.

Senior George Gleason (St. Croix, VI) qualified for the NCAA Championship on March 22-24 at Texas A&M. He will swim in the 200 individual medley, the 200 freestyle and the 200 backstroke.

Senior Meredith Bryarly (Conroe, TX) competed in three events at the NCAA Championships on March 15-17 on Long Island. In the 50 freestyle she finished 18th in the preliminaries (23.04), in the 100 freestyle she was 20th in the preliminaries (24.30) and in the 200 freestyle she was 46th (1:50.41).

Freshmen David Goldman (Miami, FL) and Andrew Rosenfeld (Beverly Hills, CA) both won five of their six singles matches on the spring trip. The doubles team of Goldman and senior Greg Royce (Rye, NY) were 6-0 at the No. 2 position.
