Lectures will examine important aspects of 'personalized medicine'
The scientific, medical, regulatory, economic and ethical perspectives of "personalized medicine" -- the tailoring of medication to a patient's genetic makeup -- will be discussed during the fourth annual Genaissance Pharmacogenetics and Medicine Lectures at the School of Medicine on Tuesday, April 3.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide an update on personalized medicine. The event will be held 8:30 a.m-1 p.m. in Harkness Auditorium of the Sterling Hall of Medicine, 333 Cedar St. For registration information, contact Deborah Lewis at (203) 786-3528 or register online at www.genaissance.com.
In addition to researchers from Yale and Genaissance, the featured speakers will include Gail Wilensky, senior fellow, Center for Health Affairs/Project HOPE, and chair, Medicine Payment Advisory Commission; Michael Waldholz, editor of Health and Science Group, The Wall Street Journal; and Dr. David Feigal, Center for Devices and Radiological Health for the Food and Drug Administration.
Genaissance Pharmaceuticals, Inc. applies population genomics, informatics and clinical data to the development of personalized medicines. Genaissance discovers proprietary haplotypes, which are genomic markers, that predict drug response based on each patient's DNA.
