Yale affiliates honored for their community service

Edward Zigler, Sterling Professor of Psychology and of the Child Study Center, sophomore Jennifer Staple of Timothy Dwight College and the Community Health Educators were all honored with 2001 Higher Education Community Service Awards on April 19 in the Hartford State Capitol.

Sponsored by the Connecticut Department of Higher Education's Community Service Network and the Connecticut Commission on National and Community Service, the recipients were selected based on their ability to create projects which distinctly help individuals, community groups or environmental causes; employ originality and unique approaches to community service; substantially increase student participation; and promote diversity and address urban problems. Staple was honored in the individual student category and Community Health Educators received the student group award. A special "Lifetime Achievement" award was presented to Zigler in recognition of his school and community involvement.
