Bush's Yale talk to be broadcast on television

Former President George H.W. Bush, the keynote speaker for "Yale and Public Service," the conclusion of Yale's Tercentennial Alumni Leadership Convocation held on April 21 at Woolsey Hall, will be featured in exclusive videotaped broadcasts set to air on Citizens Television next week.

The informal discussion, hosted by President Richard C. Levin, included Paul Kennedy, the J. Richardson Dilworth Professor of History and director of International Securities Studies, and two Yale students -- Peter Mazza '01, outgoing Yale football team captain, and Maria Ivanova, a doctoral candidate at the School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. Bush and his guests reflected on his presidency, the leadership he offered to the nation and his hopes for our collective futures.

The talk will be aired Friday, May 4, at 4 p.m. and Saturday, May 5, at 9 p.m. on Citizen's Television, Channel 29 in New Haven, as part of Yale's ongoing commitment to the community.

"The Alumni Leadership Convocation: 300 Years of Creativity and Discovery" was the second of three "anchor" weekends of Yale's Tercentennial. Alumni leaders, students and faculty gathered April 19-22 for a weekend of intellectual exchange in over 50 seminars, panels and special presentations. They discussed some of the ways Yale has made a distinguished contribution to the intellectual, social and cultural life of the nation and the world. Other presenters included artist Garry Trudeau, playwright Wendy Wasserstein, and author Tom Wolfe.

Many of the presentations can be viewed online at www.yale.edu/yale300 .
