Season Complete
Pitcher Craig Breslow (Trumbull, CT) was named captain of the 2002 baseball team. As a junior this spring, Breslow led Yale in victories (3) and ERA (2.61). He struck out 66 batters in 51.2 innings, which placed him among the national leaders in strikeouts per nine innings.
Breslow, junior Jon Steitz (Branford, CT) and senior R.D. DeSantis (Dunedin, FL) were named to the Verizon Academic All-District University baseball team.
Heavyweight Crew (4-2, 3-2 Ivy)

The Bulldogs placed third in the first novice race and sixth in the second varsity race.

Chris Eckerle (Indianapolis, IN) has been named captain of the 2001-02 men's golf team. Eckerle had several outstanding performances this spring as a junior. On April 25 he captured the New England Championship by shooting a two-round score of 148. He also had two second-place finishes, March 13 at the Embry Riddle Spring Classic where he shot a 70 and April 7-8 when he shot 145 at the Yale Spring Opener.
Men's Lacrosse (6-7, 3-3 Ivy)
Season Complete
Junior Brian Hunt (Mashpee, MA) was a unanimous first team All-Ivy selection. Hunt led the Bulldogs in scoring with 58 points.
Tucker Foote (Alexandria, VA), a three-time letterwinner at midfield, has been named captain of the 2002 men's lacrosse team. He is a faceoff specialist whose .412 percentage on draws was second on the team.
Women's Lacrosse (10-6, 5-2 Ivy)
Regular Season Complete
Freshman Miles Whitman (Baltimore, MD) was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year. She led Yale in scoring with 35 goals and five assists for 40 points. Junior Megan Strenski (Moorestown, NJ) was a first team All-Ivy selection for the second straight year.
Softball (24-21, 7-7 Ivy)
Season Complete
Laura Beckert (Winter Haven, FL) was named captain of the 2002 Yale softball team. As a sophomore this spring, Beckert started 39 games in left field and batted .236 with three doubles and 12 RBI.
Men's Tennis (17-4, 4-3 Ivy)

Sophomore Steve Berke (North Miami, FL) has been selected to compete in the 2001 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championship on May 23-28 in Athens, GA. Berke, who had an 11-4 overall record playing in the No. 1 position this spring, including 7-0 against Ivy League competition, was one of 64 singles players selected. He is the first Yale player to go undefeated in the Ivy League at the No. 1 position since Donald Dell in 1960.
Women's Tennis (13-5, 6-1 Ivy)

Elizabeth Oosterhuis (McLean, VA) has been named captain of the 2001-02 women's tennis team. Oosterhuis played mostly in the No. 5 position this spring and had an 11-6 overall record, including 5-2 in Ivy League play.

Yale had two individual champions at the Heptagonal Championships. Senior Jason Rife (Lincoln, NE) captured the 400-meter run in 47.75, and junior Thomas Hocker (San Jose, CA) won the 400 hurdles in 52.60. The 4x400 relay team of Rife, Hocker, senior Ryan Barrows (York, NE) and junior Don Carson (Pittsburgh, PA) also finished first with a time of 3:13.25.

This Week: May 11-12 at New England Championships
The Bulldogs had three individual champions at the Heptagonal Championships. Senior Emily Estey (Wellfleet, MA) won the 1500 run with a time of 4:29.70, sophomore Kate O'Neill (Milton, MA) won the 5000 in 16:54.15, and sophomore Laura O'Neill (Milton, MA) captured the 10,000 in 35:05.14.
Sophomore Lindsay Mitchell (Woodland Park, CO) won the 3000-meter steeplechase at the New England Championships with an NCAA provisional time of 11:11.11.
