Photos and memorabilia from Yale's Cole Porter archive will be on display in the lobby of the Shubert Performing Arts Center in conjunction with the production of the musical "Kiss Me Kate," June 19-July 1.
In addition to photos of the Yale alumnus himself (such as the one at left), the display will include images and playbills from the original 1949 production.
"Kiss Me Kate" is the story of a theatrical couple who battle while presenting a musical version of Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew." The Shubert production kicks off a national tour of the revival that opened on Broadway in 1999.
The New Haven show is also part of the International Festival of Arts & Ideas, which runs June 14-30. This week's Calendar, page 7, lists events being held on campus during the festival. For complete schedule information, call 1-800-ART-IDEA or visit the website at www.artidea.org.
