Pictures and poems sought
for contests at Morse College

The contests are sponsored by the parents of Ericka Bishop-Becker, a former student of the college.

The first contest will award a prize to a photographer who best captures the community of Yale. The theme is "Finding Connections, Not Differences." The contest is open to all current Yale graduate and undergraduate students, as well as alumni from the past five years. Entries must be submitted by Sept. 30 in 8 x 10 format. Winning entries and honorable mentions will be displayed in "Ericka's Room," a social space in the college, on the Tercentennial weekend, October 5-7, with a reception for all who entered the contest. Prizes of $500, $300 and $200 will be awarded to the top three entries. Accompanying each entry should be a title and no more than 100 words of thoughtful commentary. There is no limit on the number of entries allowed by a person but photos will not be returned.

The second contest will be for poetry, with the same prizes as listed above. Poems -- of any style or length -- are due on Sept. 30. The theme will be "The Future," with a focus on what the 300th celebration means for the Yale community in the years that follow. Winning poems will be read on Tercentennial weekend.

All entries should be mailed or delivered to the Master's Office, Morse College, P.O. Box 208249, 06520-8249.
