Playwright Margolin to discuss
'Theater of Desire' at master's tea

Deborah Margolin, a lecturer in theater studies, will speak at a master's tea on Monday, Nov. 26.

Her talk, titled "Towards a Theater of Desire," will begin at 4 p.m. in the Saybrook College master's house, 90 High St. The tea is free and open to the public.

A playwright, performance artist and founding member of Split Britches Theater Company, Margolin is the author
of six full-length solo performance pieces, including "O Wholly Night and Other Jewish Solecisms," which was commissioned by the Jewish Museum of New York in 1996. Her plays include "Critical Mass," "Bringing the Fisherman Home," "Three Seconds in the Key" and "Why Cleaning Fails."

Margolin has toured throughout the United States and received the 1999-2000 OBIE Award for sustained excellence of performance. She was an artist in residence at Hampshire College, the University of Hawaii and New York University. A 1999 book of her performance pieces and plays, "Of All the Nerve: Deb Margolin SOLO," was a nominee/finalist for the 2000 LAMBDA literary award in drama.
