Junior T.J. McHugh was named Ivy League Player of the Week after helping Yale win victories against Dartmouth and Harvard, with a .714 shooting average and a total of 28 points and 25 rebounds in the two games.





Men's Basketball (13-7, 5-1 Ivy)

Last Week: Feb. 1 -- Yale 73, Dartmouth 55; Feb. 2 -- Yale 66, Harvard 57

This Week: Feb. 8 vs. Pennsylvania, 7 p.m., John J. Lee Amphitheater; Feb. 9 vs. Princeton, 7 p.m., John J. Lee Amphitheater

Junior T.J. McHugh (Cleveland, OH) was named the Ivy League Player of the Week. In the two victories, he was 10 for 14 from the field (.714) and had 16 rebounds. He scored 12 points and had nine rebounds against Dartmouth and added 14 points and seven rebounds against Harvard.


Women's Basketball (10-9, 3-3 Ivy)

Last Week: Feb. 1 -- Yale 76, Dartmouth 70; Feb. 2 -- Harvard 61, Yale 57

This Week: Feb. 8 at Pennsylvania, 7 p.m.; Feb. 9 at Princeton, 7 p.m.

Senior Meg Simpson (Marietta, GA) posted her second double-double of the season with 17 points and 14 rebounds in the victory over Dartmouth. The next night against Harvard she grabbed 15 rebounds.


Men's Fencing (4-5, 1-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Feb. 2 -- Yale 17, Pennsylvania 10

This Week: Feb. 9 vs. Columbia/Brown, noon, Payne Whitney Gym

Sophomore Byron Igoe (New York, NY) won all three of his sabre bouts in the victory over Pennsylvania.


Women's Fencing (8-2, 2-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Feb. 2 -- Yale 20, Pennsylvania 7

This Week: Feb. 9 vs. Columbia/Brown, noon, Payne Whitney Gym

Sophomores Zane Selkirk (New York, NY) and Jennifer Joseph (Cerritos, CA) both went 3-0 in the foil in the win over Pennsylvania.


Gymnastics (2-2, 1-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Feb. 2 -- Rhode Island 193.350, Yale 193.075

This Week: Feb. 10 at Rhode Island Invitational, noon

Sophomore Jamie Green (Los Angeles, CA) won the vault (9.725) and the floor exercise (9.925) against Rhode Island.


Men's Ice Hockey (6-13-2, 5-7-2 ECAC)

Last Week: Feb. 1 -- Clarkson 7, Yale 5; Feb. 2 -- St. Lawrence 4, Yale 3

This Week: Feb. 8 at Colgate, 7 p.m.; Feb. 9 at Cornell, 7 p.m.

Sophomore Vin Hellemeyer (Franklin Square, NY) had three goals in the two games. In his last four games he has 11 points (6 goals, 5 assists).


Women's Ice Hockey (6-13-2, 2-8-0 ECAC)

Last Week: Feb. 1 -- St. Lawrence 6, Yale 2; Feb. 2 -- St. Lawrence 5, Yale 2

This Week: Feb. 8 vs. Colgate, 7 p.m., Ingalls Rink; Feb. 9 vs. Cornell, 7 p.m., Ingalls Rink

Senior Sara Wood (Randolph, MA), freshman Erin Duggan (Beaumont, ALB) and junior Deanna McDevitt (South Boston, MA) had the Yale goals this weekend.


Men's Squash (14-2, 2-1 Ivy)

Last Week: Feb. 2 -- Princeton 5, Yale 4

This Week: Feb. 9 at Brown, 2 p.m.


Women's Squash (6-1, 4-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Feb. 2 -- Yale 7, Princeton 2

This Week: Feb. 6 vs. Amherst, 7 p.m., Brady Squash Courts

Freshman Frances Ho (Hong Kong) was a winner in the No. 1 position for the Bulldogs.


Men's Swimming (12-1, 4-1 Ivy)

Last Week: Feb. 2 -- Yale 177, Princeton 176; Harvard 194, Yale 159

This Week: Feb. 9 vs. Brown/Columbia, 2 p.m., Kiphuth Pool

Yale had two double winners in the meet with Harvard and Princeton. Sophomore Josh Gallant (Orleans, ONT) won both the 1- and 3-meter diving events, and sophomore Alex Nash (Los Angeles, CA) captured the 100 (50.25) and 200 (1:47.73) backstroke.


Women's Swimming (11-1, 5-1 Ivy)

Last Week: Feb. 3 -- Yale 175, Harvard 144; Princeton 144, Yale 125

This Week: Feb. 9 vs. Brown 11 a.m., Kiphuth Pool

Junior Susan Cooke (Vero Beach, FL) was a triple winner against Harvard and Princeton. She won the 200 (2:05.34) and 400 (4:26.31) IM and the 200 breaststroke (2:19.01).


Men's Tennis (5-1, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Feb. 1 -- Yale 4, New Mexico 3; Feb. 2 -- New Mexico State 5, Yale 2

Next: Feb. 16 vs. Massachusetts, 9:30 a.m., Cullman Courts; vs. Sacred Heart, 2:30 p.m., Cullman Courts

Junior Steve Berke (North Miami, FL) was a winner in the No. 1 position against Boston University.


Women's Tennis (3-1, 0-0 Ivy)

Next: Feb. 11 vs. Massachusetts, 2:30 p.m., Cullman Courts

Junior Elizabeth Kaufman (La Jolla, CA) won a third set tiebreaker to win in the No. 2 position against BU.


Men's Indoor Track (0-0, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Feb. 2 -- Cornell 95, Yale 50

This Week: Feb. 9 at Harvard/Princeton, noon

Yale had three winners in the meet against Cornell. Senior Donald Carson (Pittsburgh, PA) won the 400 dash (49.63), sophomore Robert Lobue (Kennett Square, PA) captured the 800 run (1:55.04) and sophomore Robert Dwyer (Winsted, CT) won the 3000 run (8:37.73).


Women's Indoor Track (0-0, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Feb. 2 -- Cornell 87, Yale 35

This Week: Feb. 9 at Harvard/Princeton, noon

The Bulldogs had three winners in the meet with Cornell. Junior Kate O'Neill (Milton, MA) won the mile run (4:54.17), junior Laura O'Neill (Milton, MA) captured the 3000 run (9:58.47) and junior Anika Krieder (Chatham, NJ) won the 400 dash (58.68).
