Witt will coach women's ice hockey team this year
Hilary Witt, a former player for the U.S. National Team who came to Yale as an assistant coach last season, has been named interim head coach of the women's ice hockey team for the 2002-2003 campaign.
In addition, Harry Rosenholtz has been named interim associate head coach for the upcoming season.
John Marchetti, who led the Bulldogs for the past five seasons, has been reassigned within the Yale Athletic Department.
Witt is a graduate of Northeastern University and is the all-time leading scorer at the school with 113 goals and 207 points. Her senior year she led the team in goals (30), assists (24) and points (54), was ranked among the top 10 scorers in the ECAC in all offensive categories and was a finalist for the 2000 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, presented annually to the nation's top intercollegiate women's varsity ice hockey player. Witt led the Huskies in scoring in three of her four seasons.
Rosenholtz has served as an assistant coach at Yale for the last three years. A master-level coach, he has conducted countless goaltending clinics throughout North America and has consulted for teams from the youth hockey level to the professional level. Rosenholtz is a 1975 graduate of Case Western Reserve.
The Bulldogs went 9-19-3 last winter and qualified for their first ECAC playoff series by finishing seventh in the Division I North.
