Eight human resources (HR) professionals at the University have achieved certification from the Society for Human Resources Management, the premier organization in the field.
Even before being allowed to sit for the four-hour certification exam, the HR professionals must demonstrate a certain number of years of experience and/or education. They must then submit materials every three years demonstrating their continued professional growth in several areas in order to be recertified. The two levels of certification are: Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
Seven of the staff members work for the Department of Human Resource Services in the Placement and Staff Relations division, which is directed by Matzkin; Cioffi works for the University Libraries' HR office.
