Elizabeth Alexander, lecturer in the Department of African American Studies, will read from "Antebellum Dream Book" at the Yale Bookstore, 77 Broadway, on Thursday, Oct. 4, at 4 p.m. "Antebellum Dream Book" is Alexander's third collection of poems and will be published in October by Graywolf Press.

Image specialist Terry Dagradi of ITS-Medical Media Services is one of five artists featured in a photography exhibition at the Creative Arts Workshop, 80 Audubon St. The show, which runs through Oct. 20, also includes works by Marianne Bernstein, Joan Fitzsimmons, Karen Klugman and Harold Shapiro. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.­5 p.m. Monday­Friday and 9 a.m.­noon on Saturday, with hours extended to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Four Yale affiliates will present poems on the theme "On the Wall" at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, as part of a poetry reading series presented by the untitled(space) gallery. Isaac Cates, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of English; Donald Barkin, a lecturer in Yale College Seminars; Frances Brent, a lecturer in the Department of English; and Howard Stern, a senior lector in the Department of Germanic Languages & Literatures, will read poems that provide different contexts for walls as elements of realistic and symbolic landscapes. "On the Wall" is the title of an exhibition on view now through Nov. 4 at untitled(space). Located at 220 College St., untitled(space) is open Thursday 11 a.m.­7 p.m., Wednesday­Saturday 11 a.m.­3 p.m. and by appointment. For more information, contact Marianne Bernstein at (203) 772-2709.

The Institute for Responsive Education and the School of Education at Northeastern University will honor Seymour Sarason, professor emeritus of psychology, for his contributions to the interlocking disciplines of psychology and education. The education reform critic will be celebrated at "A Tribute to Seymour Sarason" on the Boston campus on Oct. 12. For information about the event, call Linda Peterson at (617) 373-5813.

Jonathan Spence, Sterling Professor of History, will present the first talk in the "Books Sandwiched In" series of free book discussions sponsored by the Friends of the New Haven Free Public Library. He will talk about his new work, "Treason by the Book." The talk takes place at 12:10 p.m. on Thursday,
Oct. 4, at the United Church on the Green, corner of Temple and Elm streets.
