Junior Stuart Yingst, who had game-winning goals against both Quinnipiac and Dartmouth universities, was named the Ivy League Player of the Week.





Men's Cross Country (0-1, 0-1 Ivy)

This Week: Oct. 12 at New England Championships

Senior Alexis Surovov (Shelton, CT) was Yale's top finisher against Harvard. He placed third with a time of 26:08.


Women's Cross Country (2-0, 2-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Oct. 6 -- Yale 21, Princeton 37; Yale 15, Harvard 47

This Week: Oct. 12 at New England Championships; Oct. 13 at National Pre- meet

Junior Kate O'Neill (Milton, MA) was the individual winner in the HYP meet with a course record time of 17:19.5. Her twin sister Laura O'Neill (Milton, MA) was second with a time of 17:25.1.


Field Hockey (4-5, 0-3 Ivy)

Last Week: Oct. 3 -- Yale 7, Sacred Heart 1; Oct. 6 -- Dartmouth 3, Yale 2 (strokes)

This Week: Oct. 10 vs. Quinnipiac, 7 p.m., Johnson Field; Oct. 13 at Boston College, noon; Oct. 14 vs. Bucknell, 2 p.m., Johnson Field

Senior Caroline Thompson (Chestnut Hill, MA) scored both Yale goals against Dartmouth. She also had the fifth goal for the Bulldogs against Sacred Heart. Thompson is tied for the team lead in scoring with 10 points.

Freshman Sarah Driscoll (Belle Mead, NJ) was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the second time. In Yale's two games she had one goal and two assists. Driscoll is tied for the team lead in scoring with 10 points.


Football (2-1, 1-1 Ivy)

Last Week: Oct. 7 -- Dartmouth 32, Yale 27

This Week: Oct. 13 vs. Fordham, 1 p.m., Yale Bowl

Freshmen Robert Carr (Baytown, TX) rushed for a career-high 185 yards and two touchdowns against Dartmouth. He was named the Walter Camp Football Foundation Player of the Game.

The Bulldogs had their first two interceptions of the season. Senior Ray Littleton (West Bloomfield, MI) and sophomore Steve Ehikian (Atherton, CA) both picked off passes against the Big Green.


Men's Golf

Last Week: Oct. 2-3 -- 13th at Adams Cup (885)

This Week: Oct. 7-8 at Toski Invitational

Freshman Steve Gray (Lee's Summit, MO) was Yale's medalist at the Adams Cup. He tied for 23rd with a three-round score of 219.


Women's Golf

Last Week: Oct. 5-7 -- 1st at Princeton Invitational (615)

Next: Oct. 19-21 at ECAC Championships

Yale had two of the top three finishers at the Princeton Invitational. Freshman Anna Jepson (Hasselby, Sweden) finished first with a 151, and senior Sarah Seo (Lima, OH) was third with a 154.


Men's Soccer (5-1-2, 1-1-1 Ivy)

Last Week: Oct. 3 -- Yale 3, Quinnipiac 2; Oct. 6 -- Yale 1, Dartmouth 0

This Week: Oct. 10 at Fairfield, 7 p.m.

Junior Stuart Yingst (Grosse Pointe, MI) was named the Ivy League Player of the Week. He had the game-winning goal in both Yale victories. Against Dartmouth he scored the only goal of the game in the 47th minute, and against Quinnipiac he scored twice, including the eventual game-winner in the 23rd minute.


Women's Soccer (3-4-1, 0-2-1 Ivy)

Last Week: Oct. 2 -- Hartford 1, Yale 0; Oct. 6 -- Yale 0, Dartmouth 0

This Week: Oct. 10 vs. Fairfield, 7 p.m., Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium

Junior Lindsay Sabel (Danbury, CT) made a season-high 13 saves against Hartford. She then followed that up with a 10-save effort in posting her first career shutout against Dartmouth.


Men's Tennis

Last Week: ECAC Championships; Oct. 5 -- Yale 6, Colgate 1; Oct. 6 -- Yale 5, Pennsylvania 2; Oct. 7 -- Yale 4, Harvard 3; Oct. 8 -- Brown 4, Yale 0

Sophomore Alison Lungstrum (Lawrence, KS) nearly had a triple double in the victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. She had 20 assists, 12 digs and seven kills.
