A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25, for Dorothee Metlitzki, professor emeritus of English, who died on April 14 at the age of 86.
The service will take place at 4 p.m. in Battell Chapel, corner of Elm and College streets.
Professor Metlitzki was a scholar of Middle English, medieval Arabic language and literature, and Herman Melville. She earned a Ph.D. at Yale and taught here 1966-1984. She was active in the Zionist movement and was deeply involved in the creation of the state of Israel. She also founded a self-help organization for Arab women.
