The women's cross country team captured the title for the second staight year at the Heptagonal Championships on Oct. 26. Junior Kate O'Neill (right) came in first with a time of 17:33.1, making her the first individual winner from Yale since 1998. O'Neill earned first team All-Ivy honors along with her twin sister, Laura (left), who placed third with a time of 17:44.5.





Men's Cross Country (0-1, 0-1 Ivy)

Last Week: Oct. 26 -- 7th at Heptagonal Championship (143 pts.)

Next: Nov. 10 at NCAA District I Qualifier

Senior Alexis Surovov (Shelton, CT) was Yale's top finisher at the Heps. He placed 15th with a time of 25:35.7.


Women's Cross Country (2-0, 2-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Oct. 26 -- 1st at Heptagonal Championships (60 pts.)

Next: Nov. 10 at NCAA District I Qualifier

The Bulldogs captured the Heptagonal title for the second straight year and the sixth time overall.

Junior Kate O'Neill (Milton, MA) was the individual winner, completing the course with a time of 17:33.1. She is the first Yale winner since Ariana Kelly won in 1998.

Kate and her twin sister, Laura, both earned first team All-Ivy honors for their performances. Laura placed third with a time of 17:44.5. Junior Amanda Brewster (Wescoville, PA) was a second team selection after placing 12th in 18:04.4.


Field Hockey (7-8, 1-4 Ivy)

Last Week: Oct. 24 -- Yale 3, Columbia 2; Oct. 27 -- Boston University 5, Yale 3

This Week: Oct. 30 at Princeton, 7 p.m.; Nov. 3 vs. Brown, noon, Johnson Field

Freshman Sarah Driscoll (Belle Mead, NJ) was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week. She scored the game-winning goal against Columbia and also had an assist. Driscoll leads the team in scoring with 19 points (5 goals, 9 assists).

Senior Tovia Martirosian (Richmond, VA) scored three goals in Yale's two games.


Football (3-3, 1-3 Ivy)

Last Week: Oct. 27 -- Columbia 28, Yale 14

This Week: Nov. 3 vs. Brown, 12:30 p.m., Yale Bowl

Senior Billy Brown (East Cleveland, OH) had 11 receptions for 163 yards and one touchdown against Columbia. Brown is currently second in the nation in receptions per game (8.83) and fourth in receiving yards per game (118.0).

This Week: Nov. 3 at Wayne State, 2 p.m.; Nov. 4 at Wayne State, noon

Senior Sara Wood (Randolph, MA) played for the ECAC Northern All Stars in an exhibition game against the USA National Team on Oct. 28 in Ithaca, NY. Team USA won 7-1.


Men's Soccer (5-5-2, 1-3-1 Ivy)

Last Week: Oct. 24 -- UConn 2, Yale 0; Oct. 27 -- Columbia 2, Yale 1 (ot)

This Week: Oct. 31 at St. John's, 3:30 p.m.; Nov. 3 vs. Brown, 7 p.m., Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium

Junior Stuart Yingst (Grosse Point, MI) scored Yale's goal against Columbia. He is tied for the team lead in points with nine (4 goals, 1 assist).


Women's Soccer (5-7-2, 0-3-2 Ivy)

Last Week: Oct. 22 -- Notre Dame 2, Yale 0; Oct. 27 -- Yale 0, Columbia 0; Oct. 28 -- Yale 3, Providence 0

This Week: Nov. 1 at Connecticut, 7 p.m.

Nov. 4 vs. Brown, 1 p.m., Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium

Junior Lindsay Sabel (Danbury, CT) made a career-high 16 saves against Notre Dame. She then made four stops in the scoreless tie with Columbia.

In the victory over Cornell, sophomore Alison Lungstrum (Lawrence, KS) had 21 assists, 11 digs, eight blocks and six kills.
