Dr. Mario Garcia, a 2002 graduate from the Master of Public Health program, has joined the staff of the Yale Emerging Infections Program as director of the Sentinel Surveillance for Unexplained Diarrhea study. The study is funded by a three-year grant from the Association of American Medical Colleges and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to study the etiology of acute diarrheal illness among patients receiving primary outpatient care in New Haven.
Garcia received his M.D. degree from the Universidad Javeriana, Columbia, and a M.Sc. from the University of London, School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
