The University has approved a project to repair and renovate the stadium roof at historic Yale Field.
"This is a major project that will preserve and improve Yale Field," says Athletic Director Tom Beckett. "This is one of the finest college baseball stadiums in the country, and we want to keep it this way."
According to Arch Currie, director of project management in the Yale Facilities Office, the work involves replacing the roof membrane and portions of roof deck that are rotted, and caulking and resealing joints to prevent leakage at the concourse level.
Currie and the Yale Facilities Office have worked with John Stuper, Yale baseball head coach, and Adam Schierholz, the Ravens' general manager, on how to best plan the three- to four-month project without interfering with their respective uses of Yale Field. The project should be completed by mid-May of this year. F.J. Dahill & Co. is working on the project.
Yale's baseball team has home games scheduled through May 3; for information, call (203) 432-1435 or visit the website at www.yale.edu/athletic.
The Ravens' home opener is Sunday, April 6, against New Britain at 4:05 p.m. Season tickets and mini-ticket plans, as well as individual game tickets, are available by calling (203) 782-1666 or by visiting www.ravens.com.
