YUWO scholarships

The Yale University Women's Organization (YUWO) is offering scholarship awards to women whose formal education has been interrupted or delayed and who wish to resume their studies, or enhance or change their careers.

Members of the Yale community and their family members are eligible for the awards. YUWO members and family are not eligible. Present staff members and wives of staff members will be given first consideration. Applicants are judged upon merit and need.

Applications for the 2004-2005 academic year may be obtained by writing to Michaela Hauser-Wagner, 35 Hidden Place, Cheshire, CT 06410. Applicants should state their Yale affiliation and enclose a self-addressed, stamped, business-sized envelope. Completed applications must be postmarked by March 1. For more information, call Hauser-Wagner at (203) 271-1842 or visit the website at www.yale.edu/yuwo.

Agrarian Studies grants

The Program in Agrarian Studies has some limited funds available to foster interdisciplinary work in any field on agrarian themes.

Support is available on a competitive basis for the following activities: preliminary on-site planning of research; supplementary interdisciplinary work; and student colloquia and institutional reciprocity.

Awards are made in the spring semester; the deadline for applications is March 1. For more information, contact Kay Mansfield at (203) 432-9833 or visit the website at www.yale.edu/agrarianstudies.

Call for art

The ninth in a series of art exhibits is being planned for the Yale Medical Group Art Place. The exhibit will open May 13.

Artists from the University, medical center, hospital communities and outside community are invited to submit their work for consideration. Artists must complete an application and submit a portfolio of work with a minimum of 12-15 prints, slides
or the actual works, between March 15 and 19.

For application forms and requirements, contact Linda Borer at (203) 785-5144 or linda.borer@yale.edu; or Lorraine Roseman at (203) 785-6763 or lorraine.roseman@yale.edu.

Safety training sessions

The Office of Environmental Health and Safety will offer a series of training sessions in February for University employees.

Sessions will include "Non-Laboratory Personnel Training," a required course for non-laboratory personnel in areas such as the physical plant, the print shop and grounds maintenance, and "Radiation Safety Orientation," a mandatory course for personnel who work with radioactive material or frequent an area where radioactive materials are stored or used.

All sessions are free and will take place in the basement of 135 College St. For a complete list of sessions and schedules, visit the website at www.yale.edu/oehs/trainreq.htm.
