Peabody events

The Peabody Museum of Natural History will feature two events of interest for children this month.

"Dinosaur Days" will be held Monday-Saturday, Feb 16-21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This annual celebration of paleontology and dinosaurs will offer activities for the entire family, including a multimedia exhibition that features over 100 fossil eggs, nests, embryos and young; hands-on exploration stations and animated video presentations; a fossil dig; dinosaur arts and crafts; and the chance to meet experts and watch them prepare dinosaur bones for display. A puppet show will be held each day at 11 a.m. and a special activity each afternoon at 1 p.m.

On Sunday, Feb. 22, from noon to 4 p.m., the museum will team up with the New Haven Dental Association, the University of New Haven Dental Center and Dudley the Dinosaur for an educational program designed to teach the entire family about dental hygiene. Titled "Dino-Mite Dental Day," the event will offer hands-on activities and live entertainment. The first 1,000 children will receive a free goodie bag.

The museum is located at 175 Whitney Ave. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors ages 65 and over, and $5 for children ages 3-18. For more information, call (203) 432-5050 or visit the website at www.peabody.yale.edu.


YUWO lecture

The Yale University Women's Organization (YUWO) will host a "Lunch and Learn" talk by Paul Fleury, the Frederick W. Beinecke Professor of Engineering and Applied Physics and dean of the Faculty of Engineering on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

The lecture, titled "Yale's Biomedical Engineering Program -- Uniting Engineering and the Yale School of Medicine," will take place at 12:30 p.m. at Becton Faculty Lounge; enter from 10 Hillhouse Ave., Dunham lab.

The event is free and open to the public. No reservations are necessary. Attendees may bring a brown bag lunch; coffee and dessert will be provided. For more information, call (203) 624-6684.


Medical dean lecture

The Medical School Council and the Medical Student Council will co-host a talk by Dr. Dennis D. Spencer, interim dean of the School of Medicine, on Thursday, Feb. 19.

Spencer will talk on "State of the School," noon-1 p.m. at the Beaumont Rm., Sterling Hall of Medicine, 333 Cedar St. Lunch will be provided.
