The Bulldogs' Michelle Quibell is ranked the number-one women's squash player.

Squash team's latest victory
is 'the ultimate payoff'

Capping off what has been a season of glory, the undefeated Yale women's squash team won the Howe Cup on Feb. 22.

Team captain Devon Dalzell '04 described the team's latest victory as "the ultimate payoff."

The Bulldogs defeated the second-ranked Trinity College 5-4 in the championship round of the Howe Cup at the Brady Squash Center. The Bulldogs won the championship after defeating Williams College in the first round of the tournament and Harvard in the semifinal round, winning six of nine matches in the contest against the latter team.

The Bulldogs accomplished a perfect season with its winning of both the National Championship and the Ivy League Title during the regular season, and also earned the Barhite Cup after beating its archrival, the number-four ranked Harvard.

In addition, team member Michelle Quibell earned the number-one ranking for an individual player.

After winning the national championship earlier this month, head coach Mark Talbott remarked, "I'm just really proud of all the women. They've worked really hard this year and clearly they deserved to win this championship."

Of her team's Howe Cup win, Dalzell said, "We've had such a perfect season, and this was the best way to end it."
