YUWO lecture
The Yale University Women's Organization (YUWO) will present the third of four lectures in its spring lecture series, "Doomed Love, 1400-2000," on Tuesday, April 13.
The lecture, titled "Flaubert's 'Madame Bovary,'" will be delivered by Annabel Patterson, Sterling Professor of English and the DeVane Professor of English. It will take place at 10:30 a.m. in the Sterling Memorial Library lecture hall.
The fee for the series is $32. The course is open to YUWO members and their guests. For more information, call (203) 562-2894.
Levin lecture
The Medical School Council and the Medical Student Council will co-host a lecture by President Richard C. Levin on Thursday, April 15.
The talk will take place noon-1 p.m. in the Beaumont Rm., Sterling Hall of Medicine, 333 Cedar St. Lunch will be provided. The event is free and open to the entire community. For more information, call Helen Kriwokulski at (203) 785-4683.
Mathematics prizes
The Department of Mathematics will award the Barge and Runk prizes on the basis of a competitive exam that is open to sophomores and freshmen.
The exam will be given 9 a.m.-noon on Tuesday, April 27, in Rm. 201, Leet Oliver Memorial Hall, 12 Hillhouse Ave. Students interested in taking the exam should sign up with Bernadette Alston-Facey in Rm. 434, Dunham Laboratory, 10 Hillhouse Ave.
In addition, undergraduates majoring in mathematics who wish to pursue their studies during the summer are eligible to compete for the John Alan Lewis Prize. A letter describing plans for summer study should be submitted to Professor Andrew Casson, director of undergraduate studies in mathematics, before Tuesday, April 27.
