This photographic triptych by Maritza Molina is among the works by artists from Cuba on display in the "Intersections/Intersecciones" show at the School of Art.

Works by Cuban artists on view in 'Intersections/Intersecciones' exhibit

The School of Art is sponsoring "Intersections/ Intersecciones: An Exhibition of Cuban Artists" Aug. 11-22 at the School of Art's Holcombe T. Green Jr. Gallery, 1156 Chapel St.

The show's curator, Sherisse Alvarez, says: "The works included present an amalgam of experience, addressing gender and performativity, the politics of displacement, and the expression of desire through ritual. Connecting this group of intergenerational artists is their relationship, either through birth or ancestry, to the island of Cuba."

The participating artists are Giovanni Bosch, Christian Curiel, Florencio Gelabert, Coco Fusco, Marco Lau, Leonel Matheu, Julio Armando Mendoza, Maritza Molina, Eduardo Muñoz Ordoqui, Chantal Perez, Hugo Perez, Jesus Rivera and Leandro Soto.

There will be an opening reception for "Intersections/Intersecciones" on Friday, Aug. 13, 5-7 p.m. The public is invited.

The Holcombe T. Green Jr. Gallery is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Admission is free. For more information, visit www.intersections-exhibit.com or call (203) 432-2622.
