Jill Westgard

Art Gallery's new development director
to head last stage of fundraising campaign

Jill Westgard has been appointed director of development at the Yale University Art Gallery, announced Jock Reynolds, the Henry J. Heinz II Director at the gallery.

Westgard comes to Yale from the Neuberger Museum of Art, Purchase College-SUNY, where she served in a similar capacity since 1998. Her previous experience in the fundraising field was at the Elvehjem Museum of Art, University of Wisconsin, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York.

"Ms. Westgard's proven record of successful stewardship in art museums, particularly university museums," said Reynolds, "will be a tremendous asset to us in our current campaign for building restoration and expansion as well as our drive to endow curatorial and staff positions and grow the acquisitions funds.

"Five years ago," he continued, "we embarked on a challenging $162 million capital campaign, and, thanks primarily to the Yale Art Gallery's dedicated governing board, we have raised $132 million. The final push is the most demanding, but we are confident that with Ms. Westgard's expertise and guidance we will soon achieve our goal."

Westgard is a graduate of the University of Virginia and earned a master's degree in art history from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
