YUWO activities
The Yale University Women's Organization (YUWO) will begin its fall "Lunch and Learn" series at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 7, in Calhoun College, Elm and Colleges streets. Marcia Chambers, a former reporter for The New York Times, will give a talk titled "Growing Women's Golf: Augusta, Access and Annika." The event is free and open to the public. Attendees may bring a bag lunch; coffee and dessert will be provided. For more information, call (203) 624-6684.
YUWO will also offer a series of five lectures, titled "Genius of the 20th Century: Freud, Marx and Einstein," on consecutive Wednesdays, beginning Oct. 8. The speakers are all members of the Yale faculty. Lectures will be held in the Sterling Memorial Library lecture hall, 120 High St. The fee for the series is $40. The Organizational Development and Learning Center of the Department of Human Resources is sponsoring "Basic Yoga for Relaxation and Stress Reduction" this fall.
The course, which will consist of 11 classes, will be held 12:15-1:15 p.m., beginning Friday, Oct 3. Sessions will be held at Fresh Yoga, 319 Peck St., New Haven. The fee is $55. The course is open to the public. To register, visit the website at www.yale.edu/learningcenter or call (203) 432-5660.
The Yale Center for British Art (BAC) will host several programs for children and families this fall in conjunction with the exhibition "Traces of India: Photography, Architecture and the Politics of Representation."
Visitors will be able to enjoy puppet theater, interact with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra in a special concert and participate in interactive activities.

Applications are now being accepted for James Hudson Brown-Alexander Brown Coxe postdoctoral fellowships in the medical sciences.
The fellowships support new postdoctoral fellows conducting research at the School of Medicine. Candidates must have received the M.D., Ph.D. or other doctoral degree by July 1, 2004. Investigators cannot have completed more than three years of postdoctoral research as of July 1, 2004. There are no citizenship restrictions. The deadline is Nov. 13.

The Peabody Museum of Natural History will host several events in October.
Programs include "Hawkwatch at Lighthouse Point" on Sunday, Oct. 5, and "Peabody Halloween: The Natural History of Witches and Wizards," on Saturday, Oct. 25. The Smithsonian traveling exhibition "The Burgess Shale: Evolution's Big Bang" will remain on view through Nov. 23.

The Yale Cabaret, 217 Park St., will open its fall season with "The Wild Party" on Oct. 2-4. Set just before the stock market crash of 1929, the play will depict the "jazzy decadence of New York city's roaring 20s."
Other plays will include "Phaedra's Love," "Philoctetes" and "Spooky 24-Hour Theater."

Tickets are $12 for general admission, $10 dollars for students. The cabaret is currently offering memberships, which allow patrons free access to all 20 shows this season for $55 ($45 for students). Members can bring up to two guests for $8 a ticket.
