Conference to explore the future of globalization
The Yale Center for the Study of Globalization will host a major international conference on "The Future of Globalization: Explorations in Light of Recent Turbulence" on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10 and 11.
The conference, which is co-sponsored with The World Bank, will take place 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday and 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday in the Law School's Levinson Auditorium, 127 Wall St. It is free and open to the public.
The conference will feature a range of noted speakers, including Joseph Stiglitz, Nobel Prize-winning author of "Globalization and Its Discontents"; Mary Robinson, former president of Ireland and now head of the Ethical Globalization Initiative; Jagdish Bhagwati, author of the forthcoming book "Does Globalization Have a Human Face?"; Mark Malloch Brown, the administrator of the United Nations Development Program; and Hernando de Soto, president of the Institute for Liberty and Democracy.
Topics to be discussed will include how to make globalization work better; global trade, migration and investment; and growth and social inclusion. The final Saturday session will present experts reflecting on globalization's effects on local and regional experiences in Africa, the Middle East, China, Argentina and Bangladesh.
