Symposium will explore issues related to the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer

Y-ME of Connecticut and the Yale Cancer Center will present the 14th annual Breast Cancer Symposium on Saturday, Nov. 1, 9 a.m.-noon in the Anlyan Center Auditorium, 300 Cedar St.

The symposium, titled "Breast Cancer: Never Too Young, Never Too Old," will provide current information on breast cancer risk, detection, and treatments.

Dr. Larry Norton, attending physician and head of the Solid Tumor Division at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center will address the questions, "Is Young Age a Prognostic Factor of Value in the Management of Breast Cancer?" This will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Norton, Dr. Vincent T. DeVita Jr., professor of internal medicine and epidemiology and public health at the Yale School of Medicine; Dr. Bruce Haffty, professor of therapeutic radiology at the School of Medicine; and Dr. Donald Lannin, executive director of the Yale-New Haven Breast Center.

Y-ME of Connecticut is a breast cancer support organization that offers local support groups and a 24-hour phone line for women who have questions or need help coping with their diagnosis of breast cancer.
