Making spirits bright
The Duke's Men, an all-male a capella group, performed at the White House's opening reception for the holiday season on Dec. 7.
The group, known for its repertoire of jazz standards, sang before some 2,000 dignitaries, including members of Congress, in the East Room. The group's rendition of "Carolina on My Mind" so impressed South Carolina Representative James E. Clyburn that he invited the Duke's Men to perform in his hometown during spring break, and First Lady Laura Bush extended an invitation to future presidential events.
