Dwight Hall at Yale is currently hosting its first Online & Silent Auction, a chance to combine the thrill of bidding with the satisfaction of supporting the development of civic-minded student leaders and the New Haven community.
Individuals from the campus and the wider world can now bid on over 100 items at the website www.dwighthallauction.cmarket.com. Interested bidders are also invited to take part in a Silent Auction 5-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, in the Dwight Hall Chapel, 67 High St.
The items being auctioned have a range of values. They include:
* Trips to Europe, Hawaii, the Galapagos Islands and many other destinations.
* A $300 gift certificate to Tiffany & Co., as well as gift certificates for Roomba, Barnes & Noble, Phil's barbershop and other local establishments.
* A foursome at the Yale Golf Course, and four skybox tickets to any 2005 Yale football or basketball game.
* Boutique wines from California's Russian River Valley.
* Rides aboard a 36-foot sailboat and a hot air balloon.
* Tours of Yale facilities and memberships in Yale museums.
The complete list of items is available at www.dwighthallauction.cmarket.com.
Bidding on many of the items will close during the live auction on April 21 but will continue online for other items through Saturday, April 23.
The auction is part of Dwight Hall's campaign to raise funds to renovate and preserve its historic building at 67 High St. and to build its endowment.
Founded by undergraduates in 1886 as the Young Men's Christian Association, Dwight Hall at Yale has evolved into a non-sectarian, non-profit umbrella organization independent of Yale University. Dwight Hall is the largest student-run organization in the country, with over 73 student-run service and advocacy groups. Its mission is "to foster civic-minded student leaders and to promote service and activism in New Haven and around the world."
