Kiger will join artistic staff at Yale Rep
In June, Jennifer Kiger, literary manager of South Coast Repertory, will come to the Yale Repertory Theatre as associate artistic director.
"It is my great pleasure to welcome Jennifer Kiger to the artistic staff of Yale Repertory Theatre," says James Bundy, artistic director of the Yale Rep and dean of the School of Drama. "Her wealth of experience and dedication to the development of new plays by both emerging and established playwrights makes her an invaluable addition to the Yale Rep team."
At the South Coast Repertory, where she has served as literary manager since 2000, Kiger screens scripts for development and production and serves as dramaturg on half of the theater's workshops and productions each season. She also was co-director of the Pacific Playwrights Festival, South Coast Rep's national new play development program. Previously, Kiger served as production dramaturg at American Repertory Theatre, collaborating with directors Robert Brustein, Robert Woodruff, Liz Diamond and Kate Whoriskey on innovative productions of the classics, as well as with multi-media director Bob McGrath on stage adaptations of Robert Coover's "Charlie in the House of Rue" and Mac Wellmaní's "Hypatia." She received her B.A. from the University of Evansville and her professional certificate in dramaturgy from the American Repertory Theatre Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University, where she taught courses in acting and dramatic arts.
"I'm thrilled to join the artistic staff of Yale Repertory Theatre and especially look forward to working closely with Artistic Director James Bundy to further Yale Rep's commitment to new plays and playwrights," said Kiger. "I feel fortunate to join the team at such an exciting time and can't wait to see what the future holds for this theater."
