Peabody summer camps

The Peabody Museum of Natural History will host three summer camps for students from the third to the 12th grades.

All camps will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., daily, with before and after extended day options. The camps will include behind-the-scenes tours of the museum's collections.

The first camp, "Biozone! The Peabody Museum Summer Youth Institute," will be held July 5-8 for students entering third to fifth grades and July 18-22 for those entering fifth to seventh grades. Activities will include interactive learning sessions about animals, plants, dinosaurs, rocks and minerals, as well as field trips.

"Bones & Stones: Anthropology Summer Camp" will be held July 11-15 for students entering fourth to sixth grades and July 25-29 for those entering sixth to eighth grades. Each day of the program will be devoted to different topics, including archaeology, cultural anthropology, forensic anthropology, Egyptology and art history. Hands-on activities, field trips and behind-the-scenes tours are planned.

The final camp, "Expeditions!," will be held July 18-29 for students entering ninth to 12th grades and Aug. 1-12 for those entering seventh to ninth grades. This camp will allow students to take excursions to coastal study sites where they will explore the environment and collect scientific data to be used by scientists.

Registration forms, fees and more information are available at www.peabody.yale.edu/events/camps.html, by calling (203) 432-6646 or sending e-mail to peabody.events@yale.edu.
