From sneakers to playgrounds
Area residents were invited to bring their worn-out sneakers to Cross Campus on April 23 during a day of activities sponsored by Yale's Recycling Program and the Connecticut Recyclers Coalition. Through the Nike Reuse-A-Shoe program, sneakers of all brands are recycled to create new playground and athletic surfaces. Since 1993, the program has recycled more than 13 million pairs of shoes and helped donate over 100 athletic courts, tracks and playgrounds to communities around the world.
