President Richard C. Levin has appointed a committee to advise him in the search for the next dean of the School of Nursing (YSN).
The former dean, Catherine Gilliss, stepped down from that post in August to assume dual appointments as dean of the Duke University School of Nursing and vice chancellor for nursing affairs in the Duke University Health System.
The search committee will be chaired by Dr. Stephanie Spangler, deputy provost for biomedical and health affairs. The other committee members are, in alphabetical order: Elizabeth Bradley, associate professor of epidemiology and public health (EPH); Dr. Vincent DeVita, the Amy and Joseph Perella Professor of Oncology at the Yale Cancer Center and professor of EPH; Marjorie Funk and Kathleen Knafl, professors at YSN; Judith Krauss, professor and former dean of YSN, deputy director for the Program for the Study of Health Care Relationships, master of Silliman College and chair of the Council of Masters; Carolyn Mazure, professor of psychiatry, associate dean for faculty affairs at the School of Medicine and director of Women's Health Research; and Gail Melkus and Heather Reynolds, professor and associate professor at YSN respectively.
Levin encouraged anyone with nominations or comments about the search for the next YSN dean to contact himself or members of the committee directly.
